MG MOTOR now has seven dealerships in New Zealand after the opening this month of one in Wellington, the first for the country’s capital city and the second for the Winger Group.

Winger MG Wellington becomes the 11th new-vehicle franchise for Winger, which was started in New Zealand in 1932 and is now one of the country’s biggest groups.

Winger also has an MG franchise in Hamilton.

Dealer principal Richard Wharton said the focus for the dealership remained on delivering the service and value for money that keeps customers coming back.

“We are excited to be partnering with MG Motor to bring these fun cars to our customers. We are confident that we will see a strong interest in the MG range,” he said.

MG Motor New Zealand business manager Anthony MacLean said the appointment of a dealership in Wellington establishes MG’s presence in almost every major city across the country.

“We have quickly cultivated a reputation of providing quality vehicles and first-class service, and we’re delighted that the brand has resonated with Kiwis so strongly,” he said.

MG said it has had significant growth since the brand’s relaunch in February this year, notching up 332 units so far this year.

The New Zealand market will add the first MG electric vehicle, the MG ZS EV, early next year priced at $NZ49,990 ($A46,600) plus on-road costs.
