The Japanese car-maker increased its market share from 5.2 per cent in 2016 to 6.8 per cent last year, and has stated that it expects strong growth from its new Eclipse Cross compact SUV and new models later this year and into 2019.
MMAL president and CEO John Signoriello told GoAutoNews Premium this week that it has added the Regents Group in the Perth suburb of Morley which will operate from a building expected to be completed late this year.
White Watson Automotive Group, South Morang, Victoria
In addition, the White Watson Automotive Group in South Morang, Victoria is operating from a recently completed building and Maughan Thiem Auto Sales at Mt Barker in South Australia started construction on its new dealership in October 2017.
There is also Callaghan Mitsubishi in Warrnambool, Victoria owned by Callaghan Motors (completed); Mandurah Mitsubishi in Mandurah, WA, which is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year with development by the Lane Group; and Muswellbrook Mitsubishi in Muswellbrook in NSW which is owned by the Upper Hunter Automotive Group and has recently been completed.
“It means we had some open points that we have now closed but there are still other areas in which we’d like to be able to have a presence,” he said.
Mitsubishi Warnambool
At Liverpool in NSW, AHG is constructing the McGrath Mitsubishi showroom at the corner of Hume Highway and Christie Street. An AHG spokesperson said the showroom is expected to be open around the middle of this year.
“There are always a number of buys and sells in hand,” Mr Signoriello said of the fluctuations in the industry’s dealerships.
“For us there’s new showrooms in the works so it’s good to see the network investing in the brand.
“There’s a lot to look forward to with the brand and with the network. I think the majority of our dealers should be happy.”
