PENSKE Commercial Vehicles (PCV) has taken back the distribution of its Western Australian truck operations, relieving AV Truck Centre and putting the sales and service of its three truck brands under control of its Perth office.

It follows similar moves last year in Darwin, Cairns, Mackay and Townsville.

Penske marketing manager, Kimberley Ruddock, said the move was part of the company’s roll-out of its Penske Power Systems locations which were to ensure the same standard of customer care across the nation.

“We are leveraging the expertise of Penske Power Systems which has a strong footprint in the industry,” she said.

Penske Power Systems – which is in a purpose-built complex built five years ago in the industrial suburb of Hazelmere, east of Perth – will now control the retail sales, service and parts for Western Star, MAN Truck and Bus, and Dennis Eagle Trucks. AV Trucks will continue as an Iveco agent.

PCV managing director, Kevin Dennis, said in a statement that “the customer is at the heart of everything we do, and the Penske Power Systems branch in Hazelmere has a well‐earned reputation for delivering superior customer service and workmanship”.

“We have world‐class products and a philosophy to deliver world‐class customer service. What better way to deliver on that than through leveraging our own Penske network.”

The Penske Power Systems Hazelmere facility has a 6720sqm workshop with 26 truck bays and full chassis dyno capability.

It is also the distribution centre for parts across Western Australia, with a 2500sqm warehouse and more than 7000 lines of inventory.

PCV, trading as Western Star Trucks Australia, designs and manufactures heavy duty trucks. It also provides truck parts, sells used trucks and has maintenance and repair services.

The company started in 1983 and is based in Wacol, Queensland.
