PORSCHE unveiled a concept dealership at its annual global dealer meeting in California last week that could become the new look for the brand in Australia.

The Porsche Centre in Palm Springs is designed to “show where the journey could go to”, according to Porsche.

“Porsche is always working on further improving the brand experience for our customers,” it said in a statement referred to GoAutoNews Premium by Porsche Cars Australia.

“A decision on the architecture of other Porsche Centres has not been taken yet.”

The multi-million-dollar dealership is one of two Porsche outlets owned by The indiGO Auto Group.

It is a two-storey, 4100-square-metre building that includes a showroom, office space, service bays and a car display area on an 11,000-square-metre site on Palm Springs’ Highway 111.

The dealership is the latest from The indiGO Auto Group that launched its first outlets in the area’s Coachella Valley in 2013 when it bought nine car franchises in Rancho Mirage, including an existing Porsche dealership also on Highway 111.

The indiGO Auto Group bought BMW of Palm Springs, which is adjacent to the new Porsche site, in 2016.

The architects, Whitfield Associates, designed the building with windows wrapping around the showroom and metal panels that curve above the first-floor windows. The curved metal is accented with red LED lights.

The concept dealership was launched as Porsche announced strengthening US sales in 2018 of 57,202 units, up over 2017’s 54,977 and the 54,280 sold in 2016.
