PORSCHE Cars Australia (PCA) has opened a parts distribution centre designed to future-proof the company and cope with demand spurred on by a three-fold increase in sales over the past five years.

The centre, the world’s third-biggest Porsche warehouse complex outside of Germany with a capital investment of almost $7 million, will be exclusively for the Porsche brand and include parts for older cars as Porsche Classic expands.

PCA built the complex on a greenfields site on Airport Drive in Tullamarine, close to Melbourne Airport.

The complex covers 7500 square metres – substantially up on the previous 2600sq.m site in the north western Melbourne suburb of Keilor – and has been designed to expand to beyond 10,000sq.m in line with expected growth from 2025. From now, it will service 14 Porsche centres in Australia and supply the New Zealand franchises.

It will allow Porsche to increase stock locations to 50,000 from 30,000 and, for the first time, allow a dedicated stock location for each part. It also allows Porsche to stock more parts for its growing Porsche Classic business.

PCA CEO and managing director Sam Curtis and Porsche AG regional manager of aftersales Michael Heller opened the doors of the centre to Porsche dealers on November 28.

Mr Curtis said the new centre was designed to meet the current needs of Porsche dealers “as well as future-proof our aftersales operations for further growth ahead”.

“This year we will introduce our all-new, third-generation Cayenne, and arriving before the turn of the decade will be our first all-electric car in the Mission E,” he said.

“It is important that we boast a parts distribution capability that matches our recent growth.

“Porsche sales in Australia and New Zealand have more than tripled in the last five years, our active car parc has grown by 60 per cent and our after sales turnover has grown 87 per cent.

“This centre allows us to provide each and every Porsche centre with the support it needs to keep customers happy and encourage repeat business.”
