SUBARU has opened a permanent service site at the Pacific Werribee shopping centre in Victoria, the same centre that debuted Subaru’s retail store in December 2016.

The two-bay site, located in the centre’s carpark, is a first for Subaru and the OEM industry in Australia. Other manufacturers with shopping centre retail stores can operate a pick-up and delivery program for vehicle servicing, using the dealership’s main workshop.

Subaru’s service site is open six days a week and has the same hours as the shopping centre, including extended trading hours.

Subaru Australia told GoAutoNews Premium that it is set up to carry out 20-plus services a day.

It has three employees now but there is the option of expanding the staff count on any changes in demand.

The site has an express service for shoppers, can undertake minor repairs and Subaru Australia confirmed that the use of its capped-price program means there is no additional charge compared with a normal dealer workshop.

The shop and service site are under the direction of the Subaru Melbourne Group which operates the Docklands dealership. Major mechanical work for customers’ cars at Werribee can be sent to Docklands.

Subaru Australia managing director Colin Christie said the service site was an extension of the brand’s ‘do’ initiatives that includes pop-up stores, permanent shopping centre locations, mobile test drives and mobile service vans.

“We continue to look for new ways to innovate and bring the Subaru brand to our customers, when and where it suits their lifestyle most,” he said.

“The Subaru Werribee service centre is yet another example of how Subaru continues to deliver on its promise to make buying and owning a Subaru easier and more convenient.”
