THE deck chairs were well and truly shuffled in November as Toyota’s HiLux rocketed to best-seller position a not unfamiliar place for the model while last month’s champion, the Hyundai i30, plunged to the sixth rung on the sales ladder.

So agitated was the November market that only the Toyota LandCruiser and Corolla kept their previous month’s position.

There were some winners as the Ford Ranger moved into second, up from fourth in October (thereby making utes the two top-sellers); Mazda3 jumping from ninth to third; Hyundai Tucson doing a Lazarus from 17th to seventh; and Mitsubishi ASX and Hyundai Accent also on the rise.

On the downside, the Volkswagen Golf dropped from 10th to 14th; the Toyota Camry during changeover to an imported car went from seventh to 12th; and a similar decline was recorded by the Holden Commodore, down from fifth to 15th.

Both the Toyota Prado and the Holden Astra posted increases, joining the Top 20 again.

Holden’s Colorado was the only model in its 16-strong line-up making gains, while over at Kia, it was all up except for slips with Optima and Rondo (again) for a monthly growth rate of 20.5 per cent.
