Toyota’s Corolla has retained its top spot in August, with 3554 new registrations for the month, bringing its year to date total to 27,525.

The Mazda3 has jumped from 14th to fourth with 2818 sales, an increase of 1317 in August compared with July, while Hyundai’s i30 slips from fourth to eighth, recording 1864 new registrations for the month.

However, the big winners for August were SUVs and LCVs including the Mitsubishi ASX moving into ninth place, the Nissan X-Trail jumping from 27th to 13th and the Mitsubishi Outlander moving into the top 20.
