QUEENSLAND dealer John Woelder has been honoured with an AADA lifetime achievement award.

The Woelder family’s history in the automotive industry started in 1960 as a BP service station on the Gold Coast owned by Jan Woelders.

The business that he started has expanded to become one of Queensland’s largest family-owned automotive retailers, with multi-franchise dealerships across the southside of Brisbane.

Jan’s son John took over where his father left off, then John’s son Mark worked his way up the ranks to become managing director in 2007, and now the family business has its fourth generation involved.

Today, Motorama represents Toyota, Mitsubishi, Kia, MG, Ford, Jeep, Nissan, Mazda, and Holden service across three key locations in Moorooka, Springwood and Browns Plains.

Motorama Group is continually expanding and now has more than 600 employees. The group’s mission is to “provide customers with a can do, cool guest experience, every day, every time” with a strong focus also on ensuring its employees enjoy their work and are encouraged to grow.

The Woelders family live and breathe the Motorama company values of ‘Be Green, Can-Do Attitude, Continuous Improvement, Team Work, Have Fun and Care Factor’.

Longevity of the Woelders’ family business has been achieved through great customer experience and providing “clear, consistent communication” with customers and partners alike.

The AADA said: “Six decades, four generations, 600-plus staff. That doesn’t happen unless you do a lot of things right.”
