For anyone who loves motorsport or who has even a passing interest in racing, the “Falken 20 Years in 20 Stories” film – made to commemorate Falken Tyres’ 20th anniversary of racing at Nurburgring – is a must-see production.
It now stands to compete for the top honours in the motor film awards to be presented in London at the end of November.
How good is it? Other nominees include “Ford vs Ferrari” of the Le Mans race of 1966 with Matt Damon and Christian Bale; a documentary by Porsche on the 24 Hours of Le Mans race; a biographical film about the Formula 1 legend Sir Jack Brabham; and the Netflix movie “Extraction” with Chris Hemsworth.
The “Falken 20 Years in 20 Stories” film was made to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Falken competing at the Nürburgring.
Under the leadership of director Tobias Kahler, the Falken film crew created a documentary which showcased 20 people telling their stories, during and after the 2019 24-hour race.
The result is 45 minutes of captivating video and narratives of emotion surrounding the most legendary race in the world. The film has had more than 200,000 views on YouTube.
The awards are supported by experts from the automotive industry and leading names from the film and TV industry. Judges comprise 24 experts including Emmy winner Bill Holshevnikoff, Oscar winner and James Bond stunt coordinator Vic Armstrong and “The Stig” Ben Collins of Top Gear fame.
Mr Kahler, owner and film director at motionctrl Film Production, has been working with Falken Tyres for 10 years.
“Our work with Falken has always been creative and constructive, and the Falken team is always open to new ideas,” he said.
“Falken is a relatively new brand of tyres in Europe, which gives us the opportunity to experiment with new approaches and try out alternative content.”
