Mr Cleary will lead the internal communications function for all Aldi stores and warehouses around Australia.
He was previously corporate communications manager for Audi and held positions in the communications division for the company in Australia for nearly 11 years.
Prior to this he was a journalist for ACP Magazines with his last role as news and features editor of Motor Magazine.
Current custodian of the former ACP empire, Are Media, closed the Motor title this year after 68 years having recently established an automotive publications division called Wheels Media.
From January 1 this year, Audi Australia became part of Volkswagen Group Australia in line with global moves to combine the mainstream Volkswagen Group entities.
Included in the merger was the appointment of Volkswagen senior marketing leader Nick Reid as Audi’s new general manager of marketing, responsible for Audi’s marketing communications, customer marketing, digital and product planning.
Mr Cleary was succeeded at Audi Australia by Claudia Muller.
