The Porsche GTT 115 hit the water for the first time this week and will be joined by only six more as part of a limited run of boats built as a joint venture between Monaco-based yacht builder Dynamiq and Porsche design house, Studio FA Porsche.

It was officially launched at the recent Monaco Yacht Show and orders are being taken for buyers wanting an exclusive craft for a mere $A20 million.

Aside from its price and exclusivity, the 115-foot (35-metre) GTT 115 is being billed as the most advanced superyacht at the Monaco show, with a novel stablisation system, podded propulsion and a hybrid powerplant with three variable-speed diesel generators.

The MAN diesel engines – which also operate as generators for the hybrid system – have a combined output of 12,594 horsepower (9391kW). When operating as a hybrid, it has two 20.8kW electric motors.

The craft can hit 21 knots (39km/h) while in diesel-only mode and has a range of more than 3400 nautical miles (6300km).

It has expansive luxury lounge areas and features 2.1m ceilings on both decks, cabins lined with carbon-fibre and marble detailing, and furniture finished with the same material as the seats in a Porsche 911R.

Dynamiq said the GTT 115 has been designed to cater for a maximum of 12 people – six passengers and six crew members.

The Porsche boat joins other exclusive watercraft from the Volkswagen Group, the Bugatti Niniette 66 that is the water equivalent to the car-maker’s $3.5 million Chiron coupe, and the Mauro Lecci-designed kevlar and carbon-fibre 15m concept machine wearing Lamborghini badges and powered by two V12 Lamborghini engines.

Porsche now has exposure to the land, sea and through its 1980s venture that supplied turbo-six engines to aircraft maker Mooney, the air.
